Long-Term Therapy Practitioner

Thanks for coming to my website. As the sole owner and employee of Psylin, Inc., with over twenty-five years of experience as a psychologist, I've dedicated my career to helping people navigate life's toughest challenges. I received my training in Chicago at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, where I built the strong foundation that guides my work today.

Professional Interests and Considerations

My interests include helping victims of narcissistic abuse, and similar types of interpersonal abuse/neglect. This abuse results in what is increasingly known as "CPTSD" (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, in contast to PTSD per se). It is very important to me, when I am able, to help clients heal from this type of abuse/neglect and rebuild their own lives--that is, to help these clients make lives worth living on their own terms. I tend to see a client's struggles, whether involving some type of depression and/or anxiety and/or trauma, not just as problems to gain relief from. Rather, I see these struggles also as opportunities for growth and meaningful living. I'm prone to see a client's issues as involving both mind and body. So, in this regard I don't solely use "talk therapy" interventions per se. EMDR therapy is consistent with this emphasis. Along these lines I generally support clients to exercise, or take up some type of physical routine, to the degree they are able--and certainly only if consistent with professional medical direction. I strive to be consistent in my own life that which I recommend clients try and/or integrate into their own lives. For example, sometimes I briefly share one of my own life challenges and what I've done or am doing in my own healing/growth process. I tend to balance a listening approach with a more directive one depending on the issue at hand. I see the therapeutic endeavor involving a negotiation of soughts in which both parties actively contribute to desired therapy outcomes.
